The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) has launched a beautiful new website. The heavily revamped site is still in its infancy—its beta phase—so you might encounter a page or two that is not fully functional. But you will certainly notice a huge increase in the use of social media sharing/linking and graphics to tell the association’s Four “E”s:
- Environmental Conservation
PADI’s impact on diving globally cannot be understated. The focus on professionalism and safety, including in how one utilizes compressed air in diving, has helped the diving community’s strong growth in active participants in the past few decades. A glance at the numbers from PADI:
- 6200 PADI Dive Centers and Resorts
- More than 136,000 members
- Issued more than 930,000 certifications in 2013
- 23 million+ certifications issued since 1967
In additional PADI news, the association has also announced a new app, ScubaEarth, for smartphone users. Log dives, share photos, and find buddies, dive sites and destinations.
They emphasis in the new website and app is, without question, personal interaction—bringing divers of all sorts together and doing it under the umbrella of skill, safety and environmental awareness promoted by PADI.
