His article, \u201cHow\u2019s the Weather in Your Pipes,\u201d is worth a read.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.compressedairchallenge.org\/about\/committees\/marketing\/default.aspx\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Compressed Air Challenge<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span> is a voluntary collaboration of manufacturers, distributors and their associations; industrial users; facility operating personnel and their associations; consultants; state research and development agencies; energy efficiency organizations; and utilities. The mission of the CAC is to be the leading source of product-neutral compressed air system information and education, enabling end users to take a systems approach, leading to improved efficiency and production and increased net profits.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/airtesting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/AirChallenge.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-124\" title=\"AirChallenge\" src=\"https:\/\/airtesting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/AirChallenge.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"105\" \/><\/a>Marshall is a key member of CAC, and in selecting excerpts from the group\u2019s <em>Fundamentals and Advanced Seminar<\/em> and <em>Best Practice<\/em> manuals, he\u2019s done an excellent job of sharing full ideas and making clear how large and how complex compressed air issues are.<\/p>\n<p>The management of moisture in compressed air systems is emphasized in Marshall\u2019s article, with subjects such as \u201cWhy Does Compressed Air Need Drying?\u201d, \u201cMeasuring Moisture Content,\u201d and the importance of understanding temperature impacts and points covered succinctly and deftly.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMoisture in compressed air used in manufacturing plants,\u201d<\/em> the article notes, <em>\u201ccauses problems in the operation of pneumatic air systems, solenoid valves, and air motors by leading to rust and increased wear of moving parts as it washes away lubrication. Moisture also adversely affects the color, adherence, and finish of paint applied by compressed air.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/airtesting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/BestPracticesManual.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-596\" title=\"BestPracticesManual\" src=\"https:\/\/airtesting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/BestPracticesManual.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"233\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>In facilities handling sensitive products, such as implantable medical devices or food and beverage items, improperly managed moisture can lead to contamination that renders products unusable.<\/p>\n<p>Marshall also stresses an issue that we\u2019ve drawn attention to on this blog on a few occasions: the absolute need to fully understand the specific use(s) of compressed air.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cTo specify a dew point lower than required for an application,\u201d<\/em> he writes, <em>\u201cis not good engineering practice\u2026. It may result in more costly equipment and greater operating expense.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Another point worth mentioning in regards to the article is its concluding emphasis on plant engineers and equipment maintenance responsibilities.
